Manual Download

Download the latest .deb, .rpm, or AppImage from the Releases page.

Launching MetaForge

After installation, launch MetaForge from your applications menu or terminal:

moteklab-metaforge # full binary name
metaforge # shorter alias (Debian package only)

First-Time Setup

  1. Preferences — Click the gear icon in the top bar to open Preferences.
  2. Sidecar Binaries — On the General tab, verify that ffmpeg and mkvpropedit are detected. MetaForge auto-detects them from your system PATH.
  3. Output Settings — Configure your preferred file naming template on the Output tab.
  4. API Keys (Optional) — If you have TMDB, TVDB, OMDB, MusicBrainz, or Fanart API keys, enter them on the API Keys tab.

Quick Start

Drag a media file onto the MetaForge window. The file is inspected automatically, and a metadata search is performed. Browse search results, apply the one that matches, edit fields as needed, and click Write Tags.
